Personnaly, I use fruity loops most of the time, but for the styles u mentionned, reason seems appropriated (the problem for me with reason is that you can't really get a dirty and distorded sound but I think it won't bother you)

I use Buzz and have been for years. I don't like Fruity Loops because it feels limiting, but now you can load Buzz .DLL files...so I don't know. I think I'll stick with Buzz.

I agree with LMS, Reason's probably the speed for you. All the discs being played on the dance floor today are written in Cubase today, which sort of explains why they all sound the same.

I think most people end up starting with ACID or something. Everybody should start out with Impulse Tracker/ModPlug.

sure soni Foundry Acid is a good place to start, trackers is more a feeling for old DOS buddies....but they can still be efficient.
But now i tend to make my speedbass tunes live using my whole gear.
but i have to admit Acid is still my favourite.

Who can play hardcore-deathmetal ?

buzz and ft2 and soundforge are the software i use. i like ft2 cuz it gives me that craptastic lofi mono sound that sort of become the characteristic of my sound. buzz is cool 1) cuz its free 2) it rivals the big boys (logic, cubase) 3) its super versatile

i can't recommend bothering with cubase or logic, cuz thats just overkill. remember speedbass sucks

check the links section for software for proggies that imo are good pieces of software to make speedbass.

i like Renoise cos it's good at doing stuff. don't bother with cubase i've tried and it sucks. and don't use the L1 ultramaximiser plug-in cos every man and his dog use it these days and it sucks the life out of everything. if you want to master something load up t-racks and flick all the switches till it's really loud.

fuck pro-tools

i can't agree with whoever said its limiting. i find cubase and reason limiting in comparison tbh.

I'm using Reason 1.0 for producing

it's an old program, but I think it's the best way to give your Songs a little touch of old-skool

fruity loops 5 (allways use the bit basher n double glitch plugins _ fast destrortin n blood overdrive + soft clipper is gr8 for preventing stuff from peaking) / sound morg / fool edit + dj speedbass on 'virtual dj' program,
i know there r better dj programs available like traktor or ds but virtual dj werks fine 4 me,
sometimes i think if old software works fine 4 u then theres no point upgrading. N besides im such a computer retard that all the software i use dosnt restrict or limit me @ all - only thing doing that is my own stupidity :)
iv seen people using ableton live n it looks gr8 - mayebe some day i will b arsed to learn how to use that.

bag war terror !
