what about the disto? I think it's my favourite effect for working hard sounds, and on the master output it can give you a wide full spectrum signal that does beautifull brick in the winamp eq =)

the melody makes something hardcore not distortion.

its why you can have overtly distorted speedbass tracks that are total pop.

breakcore and speedbass are irrevocably linked despite the fact they really sound completely different

I can change this if I want.

you're right, it can even be said that a big part of the breakcore scene is "technically" speedbass as the first definition of the genre is "a drum'n'bass & gabber hybrid spred freely on the internet" while breakcore's specificity was first defined as political (cf. the digital hardcore manifesto thrown by Alec Empire in 94), but it has evolved since that for breakcore.
Personnaly I see it as the two sides of a same movement, speedbass is the fun & "not serious" part of this while breakcore tends to be more serious and political.

that is a good description of speedbass. it is like breakcore's surreal half-gimp brother

I blame postmodernism... the only time I can say, 'this track is speedbass' anymore is when its a hoedown track with double time hi q style kicks....

all the other times its just a big genre porridge... like you LMS, you are the tiestol of speedbass and fabulous 23z is jeff mills and el cunto is like paul oakenfeld but with breaks and skeeter, well, I don't know who you are, but the point is its all like a mirror universe of the spastic music rainbow and its all coming around in circles faster and faster until we reach a singularity where the laws of speedbass break down and its time for pie

mmm pie

also, does anyone know what all the speedbass.com 'heads' are doing nowadays...
I know fabulous23z has his techno project, and there are quite a few involved with breakcore...

but are people like Es on K, El Cunto, and the like still writing music under other names? where does speedbass go to die? (other than here of course)
