» Netaudio: Alec empire_Bass terror
Pretty old school heh! But some tracks still sounds good to me.

» Bass Tard: Dear Psy-Trance, You Are Not Safe
Been wandering on some trance websites lately, and I stumbled uppon this release which definitely has something speedbass-ish.

» Netaudio: Hz-004 | Yaporigami “Loops 1.0″
As the title says these are loops. But each one of them have their own ambience. Sometimes electro, sometimes techno, but always pretty wild and weird. By the way I've listened to the other Hz-records releases and they all sounds great. Especially recommended if you like raster-noton.

» Bass Tard: Conspiration #1 - CCP & LBK
This time it's a live tape from Mohican tribe sound system's liveset project: La Bloukak, released in 1998.

  • I use FL Studio. I use Audicity in my goregrind project but only to mix tracks and add in vocals.
  • FL for more or less everything.
  • :new post edit:

I use renoise 1.91 now.. WAY better, but not as lo-fi... think i'll try mixing the two sometime...
  • renoise reminds me of buzz
  • Always been a "Tracker" since the days of the Amiga so for me it's Renoise or Med soundstudio, though recently I've installed Ubuntu studio on a pc to see how I get on with that.
  • Once I installed ubuntu on my main PC, side-by-side with windows. I tried installinging ubuntu from the disk and wiped my hard drive.. I lost everything! And the STUPID thing is is that I only gave the install 4GB, so whenever I patched it up and downloaded some apps I had NO space left...

I had to re-install windows because my brother couldnt play runescape correctly (hahaha)...

I'm still waiting for a decent system to come along so I can put Ubuntu on it to really try it out...
  • From my experience music on Linux is really laking all the VSTs you can have on most Windows apps. Eventually if you got hardware synths and effects you can work in audio with Ardour, or if you want to do it old school there is a few trackers available, Buzz kinda works under Wine emulation too. But apart from the geekness factor there's no real point in using Linux to compose.
  • I can't install fancy stuff, my computer is shit + 10

There's an alteria motive to it aswell - I'm doing the whole "microsoft training" thing (20 yrs working with computer's but I've bugger all to show qualification wise) and a lot of companys seem to be intrested in people with some linux experience.

what software do you guys use to create your songs?

to me, the combination of reason + some daw program has been a great combination. i use reason to make the basic riffs and drum sounds/loops and then use the daw to arrange, cut and mix. i used to use an old cubase (what was ok) but changed to reaper at some point. love it.

  • i use Reason 3.0, Audacity's latest beta, Ableton live 8.0 for live sets. i also have a tascam analog 4 track and some circuit bent instruments i made that i use
  • I'm using ableton live 7 for everything now. Live, production, and mastering.
I use renoise for nostalgia now.
    I use audacity for datamoshing.
  • I really like Pure Data... Free, open-source, and I can make anything I want in it :) If you've heard of Max/MSP, PD is from the same family.
